Challenges

Petrico, a specialist global distributor of petroleum and chemical products, appointed Polygon as its PR, Marketing, Design and Web agency in 2016, recognising the ever-increasing importance of its business profile as it looked to develop across new and existing markets.

The overarching remit for Polygon was to provide new impetus for the public facing elements of the business, with brand personality, recognition and profile of paramount importance as Petrico pushed ahead with its ambitious growth plans.

Polygon initially delivered a full business rebrand, comprising a refreshed logo and tagline, complete with dedicated brand guidelines, that was applied to office supplies, promotional products and ongoing promotions in print and via digital.

In tandem with these activities, Polygon helmed the development and build of a new Petrico website to reflect the company’s revised branding through innovative and original creative design and copywriting.

The website includes an embedded capacity to grow with the business and features a range of cutting-edge functionality, designed to accommodate visitors on all platforms flawlessly. The business’ ever-expanding product range has been upscaled seamlessly from a handful of initial products to feature over 300 individual product pages across 16 categories.

The website is maintained via Polygon’s dedicated ultra- secure, cloud-based server platform website hosting package. This ongoing support also includes a dedicated technical service and content development as part of ongoing organic search engine optimisation best practices.

Offline, Polygon targeted key industry publications to place a series of adverts, highlighting Petrico’s growth and capabilities directly to a captive audience of existing and potential clients. This integrated campaign also comprised creative design and copywriting to produce a series of adverts and web buttons that were both visually impactful and effective in delivering the brand’s key messages.

This advertising campaign has been aligned with dedicated PR services to further highlight Petrico’s expansion and capabilities to local, regional and industry audiences through press and digital media.

Polygon has also led promotion around industry events that Petrico has attended and sponsored, maximising the PR potential of the company’s active and ongoing involvement in the sector’s calendar.

Results

Petrico’s industry and digital profile has grown exponentially since 2016. Among its achievements since 2016 have been its relocation to larger premises Sandbach and expansion of its product range in both number and into Europe, as well as celebrations around its 30th anniversary.

Its website traffic continues to grow at a commensurate rate, with year-on-year traffic increasing by an average of 82%. Additionally, when representatives of business attended a Cyber Security seminar sponsored by HSBC Bank, all of the attendees provided their web details and received an independent cyber security report via Dark Beam, a multi-layer search engine (surface, deep and dark web) which replicates methods used by cyber threat groups to understand ways in which websites are most susceptible to cyber-attacks, then allocates a score accordingly.

Petrico’s website was ranked as the most secure of any company present.

The company regularly appears within the pages of its regional and significant industry publications and is now heavily involved in the petrochemical sector’s key events as both high profile attendees and sponsors.
