2019 is the 25th anniversary of the ‘Return of a Legend’ a motorsport programme that signalled the return of the Gulf brand to main stream motorsport after a 19 year absence. The Le Mans investment included 5 times winner and legendary Gulf pilot, Derek Bell who with co pilots Robin Donovan and Jürgen Lässig, competed in a Gulf Porsche K8 Spyder. From the day of the announcement the news created an explosion of  positive media awareness that was, by the end of 1994 valued at over £2m.

On the track, Derek put the Kremer Porsche on the front row of the grid and then led the first lap, a memorable moment for all those present including Polygon Marketing MD Martin Allerton. The car eventually finished a creditable 6th overall, Gulf were delighted and instructed Martin to explore the options for a fully integrated motorsport marketing programme the following year. It was the catalyst for Polygon Marketing, launched in September 1994 and this year proudly celebrating its 25th anniversary too.
