As the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) concludes, hosted in Glasgow to discuss plans to work towards carbon neutrality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, at Polygon Marketing we believe that even the smallest of companies can make a difference – to the planet, to our customers and our running costs.

Our offices are located within a three-storey Regency building in the centre of Cheltenham with shared facilities, which requires a collective approach to environmental impact.

Whilst we only use 20-30 units of electricity per month, we have a smart meter and use a supplier with green credentials. Travel to and from the office is by foot or push bike, one of the advantages of us all living and working in the same town. Looking after the planet also includes looking after yourself so the company offers free gym membership to help us stay fitter and healthier. We are switching away from paper to digital in as many situations as we can and continue to increase our recycling, avoiding plastic products if an alternative is available. As for client meetings, the pandemic played a significant role in reducing air and road travel and even though the business is returning to ‘normal’ we now consciously avoid unnecessary travel by using video meeting platforms where possible.

Polygon Director Dave Surgenor says: “We now put much more emphasis upon the differences we can make individually and collectively to do our bit for the planet, no matter how small. At Polygon Marketing we take this seriously and look at all aspects of our business from the energy suppliers we use to the amount of non-essential travel that we undertake. We aim to provide a safe and healthy working environment which has as little impact as possible on the wider environment. And we like to work with like-minded companies that promote sound environmental practices wherever possible.”
