Gulf Retail has once again picked up the ‘Oil Company Initiative of the Year Award 2021’, at the Forecourt Trader Awards, the Oscars of the Petrol retailing industry where the hard work, innovation and creativity of forecourt retailers nationwide are recognised and rewarded.

The award entry was crafted and submitted by Polygon whose association with the Gulf brand now extends four decades. Since 2008 Gulf Retail, supported by Polygon Marketing, has won the prestigious Oil Company of the Year award four times despite strong competition from all of the leading fuel suppliers in the UK. This year’s glamorous awards evening was held at the Park Plaza, Westminster, where Anton du Beke, television presenter and Strictly Come Dancing judge, presented the coveted award to Gerry Welsh, Gulf Retail’s Marketing Manager.

The judges were impressed with the success of Gulf’s Dealer Rewards initiative, set up in the early stages of COVID 19 pandemic to provide emotional support to its Dealers and their staff.  Gerry Welsh says “During the crisis we wanted to show that we cared and truly valued the efforts of our Dealers and their staff.  We were witnessing so many great acts of kindness and there was a desire amongst everyone within Gulf Retail to respond in a positive and meaningful way to those people putting themselves on the front line at a time when they and their families were desperately trying to keep themselves safe and well. The scheme, accessed through an easy-to-use digital platform, was designed to proactively support an individual’s health, lifestyle and wellbeing including discount offers with significant financial benefits.

“As always, Martin and the Polygon team played an important role, making sure that our award entry was written and presented to the highest possible standard.”
