Polygon supports Crowdfunder for World War II hero
Polygon is proud to lend its support to a crowdfunding campaign to provide a headstone for World War Two hero, Stanislaw Wadas.
Stanislaw left his home, family and friends in Poland to join the RAF and fought in the Battle of Britain. He passed away in 1998 and is buried at Rose Hill Crematorium in Doncaster. Until now, he has not had a headstone at his graveside or any public recognition for his heroic past.
The campaign – established by Paul Bristow, who grew to know Stanislaw whilst working as a care assistant for Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, and Ben Parkinson MBE – recently passed its target and is due to be unveiled on Remembrance Sunday with Military rites and a lone bugler. The headstone will ensure that Stanislaw will never be forgotten for his service and sacrifices.
“The Poles were some of our best code breakers and pilots in the war and at times it’s important to recognise with a positive action the appreciation we feel for those who have fought to protect our freedom,” says Polygon MD, Martin Allerton. “This story resonated with Polygon, we’ve a strong association with Doncaster and I’ve had the privilege of meeting Ben Parkinson MBE, whose sacrifice in the line of duty is almost beyond comprehension.”
